This beautiful hotel is housed in a recently rebuilt structure, the oldest portion of which dates back to 1764, on Aalstraeti, one of Reykjavik’s oldest streets. New structures have been erected on either side of it that are replicas of Fjalakötturinn and Uppsalir, respectively, from earlier in history. Reykjavik City Hall, the grand Reykjavik Cathedral, and other noteworthy sites are nearby. For a terrific way to break up a city scene, stroll around the perimeter of Tjörnin Pond or any of the parks in the center of Reykjavik.
